A seamless air source heat pump installation for Clade Engineering Systems

Overview

UES has seamlessly delivered a large commercial air-source heat pump (ASHP) installation for Hawthorn Swimming Pool & Leisure Centre, working on behalf of fellow B-Corp Certified manufacturer Clade Engineering Systems.

Using Clade’s equipment and design, we planned and executed the installation to support the centre’s long-term sustainability goals while ensuring reliable performance for day-to-day operations. The new ASHP system provides renewable heat for the leisure facilities, including the swimming pool, helping the site move away from a more carbon-intensive heating approach.

The solution

This project relied on strong coordination among multiple on-site contractors. Our engineers and Contracts Director worked closely with Clade and the wider delivery team to keep the installation aligned with programme requirements, site constraints, and the client’s operational needs.

We delivered the works in a structured, staged approach. This included preparing key system components, reconfiguring areas within the plant room to accommodate the new layout, and installing the new pipework and connections to integrate the ASHP system effectively. We then completed testing and final checks to ensure the system operated safely, efficiently, and in line with the design intent.

The new ASHP system now provides consistent, reliable heating to support the swimming pool and wider leisure facilities, helping maintain comfortable temperatures throughout the year for visitors and staff.

Just as importantly, the project supports Hawthorn Swimming Pool & Leisure Centre’s sustainability targets by replacing an older, traditional heating system with a modern, renewable alternative.

By working collaboratively with Clade Engineering Systems and other contractors on site, we delivered a successful installation that balanced performance, programme delivery, and long-term environmental value.
