Transforming an empty building into a First Bus office in Ireland

Overview

UES was appointed as main contractor to deliver an office fit-out for First Bus at one of their newly acquired sites in Ireland, marking our first international project.

Following the acquisition of bus and coach operator Matthew Coaches Ltd, First Bus required a more suitable operational workspace for their team. The site had previously been operating from temporary portacabins, which were no longer practical for the scale of operations planned for the location.

To support the next phase of their operations, an existing shell building on site was selected to be transformed into a fully functional office space for staff.

The solution

With the project located overseas, clear communication and coordination were essential. Our team worked closely with First Bus and our trusted network to ensure the project was delivered efficiently and to the required standard.

We coordinated and delivered a full package of works including mechanical and electrical installations, fire and security systems, and interior fit-out.

Starting with an empty shell, we transformed the space into a modern, practical workplace. The project included installing a communal kitchen area, accessible WC facilities, and glazed offices and meeting rooms, all designed to create a welcoming and functional environment for staff and visitors.

Through careful planning and close collaboration across the project team, we ensured the works progressed smoothly and remained aligned with the project design.

The Result

Despite the project being delivered internationally, the works were completed on time and within budget, demonstrating the strength of the project team and the effectiveness of our coordination.

What was once an empty shell has now been transformed into a fully operational office space that supports First Bus’s growing operations in Ireland. The new workspace provides a practical and welcoming environment where teams can collaborate, hold meetings, focus on individual work, and take breaks throughout the day.

The completed fit-out has created a modern, accessible and functional workspace, helping First Bus establish a permanent base for their operations while supporting staff productivity and wellbeing.
