Who are Community of Purpose
Community of Purpose is a Bristol-based charity dedicated to supporting young people across the city. By working closely with local businesses, they fund vital programmes, host events, and open doors for young Bristolians who may otherwise face limited access to support.
Through initiatives such as the Bristol Young Heroes Awards, mentoring schemes, and community projects, their work helps tackle holiday hunger, improve mental wellbeing, and promote social mobility for disadvantaged young people.
About Break Free
Break Free is a holiday programme for children aged 8 to 13, open to those in receipt of free school meals. Children attending Break Free take part in a range of fun activities and enjoy nutritious meals each day, spending their school holidays in a safe, supportive environment.
The impact of Break Free 2025
In 2025, we once again proudly supported Break Free, which reached 1,795 children across Bristol. This programme provided 3,590 free hot meals and 5,385 free pieces of fruit to help tackle holiday hunger.
Break Free also supported children’s well-being, with 93% of attendees saying it helped them be happier when speaking to children they didn’t know, and 83% visiting places they hadn’t been before.
The standout figures are that 99% of attendees said they would come to Break Free again, and 95% saying that they would tell their friends to come to Break Free. With statistics like this, it's clear the impact Break Free has on children, helping them develop new skills, try new experiences, and ensure they are well fed.
Why we're proud to support Break Free
This is only one of Community of Purpose’s initiatives we support, but to us, this is an important one. It ensures that children can enjoy and look forward to school holidays regardless of their family situations. We’re proud to play a small role in Break Free, but the real heroes are Community of Purpose themselves.
